Boutonnieres have made a bit of a comeback in the wedding world as more brides in this economy are embracing the “DIY wedding” mentality. Weddings are becoming more personal and unique than ever, and boutonnieres are not excluded in this.

Boutonnieres have been around for a long time and used to be worn on a daily basis. Meaning “buttonhole” in French, it was typically pushed through the top buttonhole on a gentleman’s lapel. Because modern day lapels don’t typically have that extra buttonhole, boutonnieres are now usually fastened to the lapel with a pin.
