Looking for the right flowers to create a modern arrangement for a bridal shower? There are several blooms you can choose from, and several ways that you can go about arranging those flowers to create a display that’s perfect.

The Flowers

To pick the right flowers for a modern arrangement, start out by focusing on color. Modern floral displays look amazing when they include blooms in bold and dynamic shades. You can opt for a few hues or a solid color to make a statement. Next, chose flowers that are striking in design or varied in texture. Remember that modern means fresh, so keep your bouquet interesting with contrast or vibrancy. Consider carnations, orchids, calla lilies, flowering succulents, birds of paradise, or horse tail for your modern flowers.

How to Arrange Your Flowers

Modern floral arrangements look great when they’re fixed in a container, so think about purchasing some floral foam to form your display and a cool bowl or box to put it all in. Soak your floral foam in water in a bucket, or in the sink, and wait for it to get completely saturated. Remove the foam and cut it into a shape that will fit in your container (by the way, we love ceramic or glass containers for modern arrangements, but sometimes square wood boxes look stunning).

Cut your flowers so that the blooms will either sit on the edge of the container when placed into the foam, resting, or so that they’ll shoot up really tall. Beginning in the back corner of your foam, place a flower so that it’s snug against the container. Fill the back row with flowers, then the row in front of that, and so forth, until your foam is filled with flowers. If you notice any spaces in your arrangement when you’re done, plug in a few extra flowers but remember to keep the display balanced. Tightly packed flowers look great in a modern arrangements.

Then, you’re done and you can show off your beautiful modern arrangement at your bridal party!
